The American Airlines 777-300ER, also known as the 77W, debut was in 2013. I was excited to have the opportunity to experience it on my first golf trip to the UK in 2015. I booked a round trip ticket and used 15,000 Advantage Point + $300 co-pay to upgrade into business. This option is usually not available until 48 hours prior to your flight so it’s a bit of a gamble unless you want to fork over the 57K miles or buy the ticket outright to guarantee yourself a business class seat.
American’s 77W business product is elite. The seats are incredibly private and very comfortable for long haul flights. If you are traveling as a couple, the middle two seats are where you want to be as they allow you to interact easily, while at the same time providing nice space. The seats along the windows also provide privacy due to the set-up of the lie-flat seat.
The 77W is still fairly limited but it’s definitely worth splurging if you are taking a golf trip to Scotland or Ireland and need to connect through London Heathrow. Below are the current available routes for the American Airlines 777-300E. I highly recommend your try this aircraft over the older American 777 options when flying across the pond.
